Nationals/Imaging USA

We try at Lucas Photography to attend photography conventions throughout the year to keep us educated. We attend classes and learn from other top photographers on what has worked for them and what is the newest products and how they work.

Megan and I traveled to Phoenix to our National Professional Photographers of America Convention where 6 to 10,000 photographers attended. So much information and so little time. We had a blast.

I also picked up three awards and a Photographic Craftsman Degree while being there. The first award was for having the top scoring print in our Regional (Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska). The second was being named Photographer of the Year. The third was having an album ranked in the top ten albums in the country and having the top senior album in the country. It was a good year.
Here are a few images from the trip.

Beautiful downtown Phoenix!

Megan and I at my first awards banquet.

Receiving the ASP Regional Elite Award for having the top scoring print.

Megan and I had to stop by the booth of our wonderful lab Millers Professional Imaging in the tradeshow. It was great to talk with all of the Millers staff that made the trip. They are always so helpful with any questions and friendly to work with. Thanks Arnie, Lisa, Debra, Julie, Marsha, Brian and Ted.

Just before I received my Photographic Craftsman degree.

Anne Geddes received a Lifetime Achievement in Photography award.

It was very cool to hear someone like her talk about her passion for photography.

With one of my best friends Layton Powell.

Talking with a photographer that I so much respect, Martha Dameron.

Just having fun at the awards party!

One of my best friends, Dave Swoboda. Dave has been my mentor since 2003. Dave is the one that has criticized my photography work and made me work harder. I have loved and hated him in the same moment. He is the one that has changed my photography and the way I see art forever.
Thanks Dave.

The four of us.
